WHY I WON'T REJECT THE NATIONAL AWARD - COMEDIAN AY.

In a recent social media post, popular comedian AY expressed his delight and gratitude for being recognized as one of the notable Nigerians to receive a national honour. Just a week after receiving the Most Outstanding Comedy Personality of A Decade award, he woke up to the news of this prestigious recognition. Initially assuming it to be another award to add to his shelf, he soon discovered that national honours are the highest accolades bestowed upon citizens for their contributions to national development.

AY humbly shared the various orders of national honours, ranking them in descending order of importance: the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR, CFR, OFR, MFR) and the Order of the Niger (GCON, CON, OON, MON). He expressed his happiness to be listed among individuals who have made significant contributions to the country across various fields.

In a subsequent tweet, he responded to those criticizing or suggesting that he should reject the national honour. He emphasized that the country itself is greater and more important than any particular president or political party. A national honour, in his view, represents the highest form of recognition for one's contributions to nation-building. He expressed his allegiance to the country where he has contributed his quota and expressed his gratitude for being rewarded by the nation.

With his characteristic wit and humility, AY reintroduced himself as Dr Richard Ayodeji Makun (MFR), highlighting the significance of the national honour he has received. This recognition serves as a testament to his enduring commitment and dedication to his craft, as well as his contributions to the overall development of Nigeria.
