President Tinubu to Attend Mahama's Inauguration in Accra

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart from Abuja on Monday, January 6, 2025, to attend the inauguration of Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on January 7. Mahama, who previously served as Ghana's 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024, succeeding President Nana Akufo-Addo.

In a statement released on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, it was noted that President Tinubu shares strong personal and diplomatic ties with Mahama, reflecting the close relationship between Nigeria and Ghana.

Tinubu, serving as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, will join other African leaders at the inauguration ceremony. He will be accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, along with other senior government officials.

This visit comes in response to an invitation from Mahama, who had previously paid a courtesy visit to President Tinubu in December 2024.
