Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Awarded Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger During Nigeria Visit

During his state visit to Nigeria on Sunday, November 17, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the prestigious Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), the country’s second highest national honor, by President Bola Tinubu. 

While presenting the award, President Tinubu praised Modi as a “friend of Nigeria,” emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the two nations. The announcement was shared on social media by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President, who posted on the X platform: 

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Honours Prime Minister #NarendraModi. Confers him with Nigeria’s second highest honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) and declares him friend of Nigeria.”

This historic recognition underscores the significance of the bilateral ties between Nigeria and India, showcasing a commitment to strengthening cooperation and collaboration in various sectors.
