Lucky Aiyedatiwa Declared Winner of Ondo State Governorship Election
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor of Ondo State, has been officially declared the winner of the recent governorship election. The announcement was made by the Returning Officer, Olayemi Akinwumi, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State. Aiyedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured his victory on Sunday, ensuring his continued leadership at the Government House in Alagbaka, Akure.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Aiyedatiwa received a total of 366,781 votes, decisively defeating his nearest rival, Ajayi Agboola, the flagbearer for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes—more than twice fewer than Aiyedatiwa's total.
At precisely 2:30 PM at the INEC collation center in Akure, Akinwumi announced, “That Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.
