“DULL STUDENT!” — ATIKU ACCUSES TINUBU OF COPYING HIS FUEL DISCOUNT PROPOSAL, DEMANDS APOLOGY
DULL STUDENT!” — ATIKU ACCUSES TINUBU OF COPYING HIS FUEL DISCOUNT PROPOSAL, DEMANDS APOLOGY ????????
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu, accusing his administration of adopting his proposed fuel cost relief plan without acknowledging him.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate said he had proposed targeted support to ease the burden of rising petrol prices back in September, but was criticised by the Presidency, which allegedly described him as ignorant of economic policy.
Atiku expressed disappointment that the government had now introduced a similar measure after previously dismissing his idea, insisting that Tinubu owes him an apology.
The Federal Government recently announced a 30-day petrol discount at NNPCL outlets, prioritising public transport operators. Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele explained that the initiative was not a subsidy but an effort to sell petrol at cost.
Atiku, however, dismissed the arrangement as a “Yahoo Yahoo subsidy” and described the situation as shameful.
Do you think Atiku has a point, or is the government’s fuel discount a different policy altogether? Share your thoughts below.
