Ogun Police Arrest Two Men for Allegedly Defrauding Local Merchant
The Ogun State Police have arrested two young men, Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare, on January 13, for allegedly obtaining goods under false pretenses from Christopher Chukwuma, a merchant in the Ijebu North Local Government Area.
The suspects, reportedly lacking legitimate sources of income, were caught while attempting to fraudulently acquire clothes worth N220,000 through fake bank transfers. Their arrest followed a tip-off, and they were apprehended with incriminating evidence at the scene.
Further investigations revealed that one of the suspects had a prior history of similar offenses, having previously purchased generators valued at ₦140,000 using fraudulent transfers in 2023.
CSP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were in custody along with the exhibits collected during the operation.
