BURNA BOY DRAGGED FOR LAST-MINUTE SHOW CANCELLATION IN NETHERLANDS

Nigerian artiste Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu known professionally as Burna Boy has come under heavy backlash following his recently cancelled ‘Love Damini’ show over the weekend.  The show was scheduled for Saturday night at the GelreDome, Arnhem, Netherlands.

According to various reports, fans had begun trooping into the 41,000-capacity-seater stadium excited to be entertained by the highly decorated ‘Giant if Africa’ only to be informed several hours later that the show had been cancelled. Burna has since come out to  apologize to fans via his Instagram story.

The Grammy-award-winning act apologized to fans via a statement shared on his Insta-story, noting that he too was heavily anticipating his performance for his foreign fans but unfortunately, it couldn’t happen due to “a number of reasons.”

He praised his “amazing team” who had  been apparently working hard trying to salvage the situation noting that they sadly “couldn’t do it in time”. The Kilometre crooner has added that a new date will be announced soon.

Sadly, Burna ’s apology wasn’t accepted by many who have since taken to social media to drag the ‘Love Damini’ crooner as this isn’t the first time the artist announced a late cancellation of his show.

In 2019, the singer also had fans waiting for hours at a scheduled show in Canada before releasing a statement saying he was stuck at the airport hence his inability to make the show. 

Fans and media users called out Burna for his ‘unprofessionalism’ in handling his shows and have taken to social media to lambast the singer.

 â€œBurna isn’t supposed to be a celeb, doesn’t have what it takes. So unwise in handling fans, canceling shows after much delay. That’s disrespectful! More unwise are fans who idolise him, and turn up every time. Y’all create an association to deal with any celeb that messes up. So unwise,” a fan tweeted.

A second user’s tweet read; â€œUseless. Got us waiting for more than two hours, to cancel the show at midnight. Rubbish.”

Another aggrieved fan wrote: â€MEHN FUCK BURNA BOY Why are Nigerian artistes so unprofessional.”
