South Africa Eases Visa Requirements for Nigerian Tourists
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a significant change in visa regulations, allowing Nigerian tourists to apply for visas without the need to present their passports. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu also in attendance. Ramaphosa highlighted the streamlined visa procedures aimed at facilitating travel for Nigerian business travelers and tourists. Notably, he mentioned the introduction of five-year multiple entry visas for qualifying Nigerian business individuals, emphasizing South Africa's commitment to fostering stronger ties and simplifying the travel process. He stated, "Our efforts to create a favorable environment include our simplified visa process for Nigerian business people to travel to South Africa." This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance diplomatic and economic relations as the two countries celebrate 30 years of diplomatic ties. In his address, Ramaphosa acknowledged the existing economic cooperation, noting that Nigeria is home to several South African companies. He expressed a desire to further strengthen this relationship by addressing any remaining barriers to investment and improving the ease of doing business in South Africa. "We want to enable investors to operate, trade, and pursue opportunities in various sectors," he added.
