FCT Police Command to Enforce Ban on Tinted Windows and Obscured Number Plates

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Police Force has announced its intention to enforce the prohibition on tinted windows and obscured number plates. Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Olatunji Disu, made this declaration while presenting several suspects apprehended for various offenses in the territory. CP Disu emphasized the legal basis for the enforcement, stating, “There is a ban on it. It’s even a legal matter because there is a law on it. The police only suspended the enforcement of the law because we had suspended the issuance of the tint permit.” During the announcement, he highlighted a recent incident where operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) apprehended a suspect, Ibrahim Kabiru, during a routine patrol along Ahmadu Bello Way on November 23, 2024. The police became suspicious of Kabiru's parked vehicle, leading to a search that uncovered a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine, a knife, scissors, two mobile phones, and female luggage suspected to be stolen. Upon interrogation, Kabiru could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the items, raising concerns about his potential involvement in "One Chance" robberies. He is currently in custody and will face charges in court once the investigation concludes.
