IPOB Demands Return of Seized Goods from Onitsha Drug Market
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to return goods confiscated from traders at the Ogbo Ogwu Drug Market in Onitsha, Anambra State.
In a statement issued by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group alleged that NAFDAC officials carried out a midnight raid on the market. According to IPOB, the officials blocked CCTV cameras, broke into shops, and seized goods under the pretext of targeting fake drugs.
While IPOB maintains its opposition to the sale of counterfeit drugs, it strongly criticized NAFDAC’s approach, questioning the transparency of the operation. The group expressed concerns over the confiscation of traders' goods in their absence, the deliberate obstruction of surveillance cameras, and the lack of evidence proving that all seized products were fake.
