Wike Distances Himself from Rift with Fubara, Calls Governor His “Son” Amid Political Tensions
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed speculations of a personal feud with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stating that the embattled governor is still like a son to him.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin, Wike denied claims of a political battle with Fubara, emphasizing that his real conflict lies with individuals allegedly influencing the governor for selfish gain.
"That’s not a fight," Wike said. "He’s my boy, my son. Why would I fight him?" He clarified that his opposition is directed at those he accuses of attempting to hijack power without merit. "I’m only fighting people who want to take what they never worked for. Now they’re embarrassed because they’re being defeated," he added.
