Uganda-Born UK Nurse Faces Disciplinary Action for Refusing to Use Female Pronouns for Transgender Offender
A Uganda-born senior nurse in the UK, Jennifer Melle, is fighting to save her career after being disciplined for refusing to refer to a 6ft-plus convicted transgender paedophile as a woman.
Melle, 40, who works at Epsom and St Helier University Hospital Trust in Carshalton, Surrey, declined to use female pronouns for the offender, known as ‘Mr X’—a biological male currently serving time in a high-security male prison.
‘Mr X’ was jailed for luring boys into sexual acts while posing as a teenage girl on social media.
The offender, despite being convicted of child abuse, identifies as a woman and demanded to be referred to with female pronouns.
Melle refused to comply, citing ethical concerns.
She later claimed she faced racial abuse and physical threats over her stance.
Instead of receiving support, she was issued a final written warning and referred to the UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council for further disciplinary action
