Supreme Court Removes Julius Abure as Labour Party Chairman, Overturns Appeal Court Ruling
The Supreme Court has annulled the Court of Appeal's decision that had upheld Julius Abure's position as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
In a unanimous ruling delivered on Friday, a five-member panel of the apex court stated that the appellate court had no jurisdiction to intervene in the party's internal leadership dispute.
The court emphasized that such matters are strictly within the purview of the party and are beyond judicial interference.
This ruling removes Abure from his role as LP Chairman, intensifying the leadership crisis within the party. Earlier in January, the Court of Appeal had ruled that Abure should remain chairman, asserting that political party leadership disputes should not be subject to judicial decisions
