Honda Shifts Civic Hybrid Production to Indiana Amid Tariff Concerns
In a strategic move driven by evolving trade policies, Honda has announced that its next-generation Civic hybrid will be manufactured in Indiana, marking a significant shift away from its current production base in Mexico.
The decision is largely influenced by former President Donald Trump's proposed 25% tariffs on vehicle imports from Mexico and Canada. By relocating production to the United States, Honda aims to sidestep these steep tariffs and safeguard its competitive pricing in the North American market.
Production of the new Civic hybrid is expected to commence in May 2028 at Honda’s Indiana manufacturing plant. The facility, which already handles assembly for several Honda models, will now take on the additional responsibility of producing an estimated 210,000 Civic hybrid units annually
