Criminology Student Accused of Random Murder After Month of Planning
A 20-year-old criminology student, Nasen Saadi, is on trial for the alleged murder of 34-year-old Amie Gray and the attempted murder of 38-year-old Leanne Miles on Durley Chine Beach, Bournemouth, on May 24, 2024. The prosecution claims that Saadi spent a month meticulously planning the attack to experience "what it would be like to take life."
During proceedings at Winchester Crown Court, prosecutor Sarah Jones KC described Saadi's motivations, suggesting he sought to understand the thrill of causing fear and exerting power over others. She questioned whether he was driven by a desire to disrupt the joy of others, stating, "Perhaps he just couldn't bear to see people engaged in a happy normal social interaction and decided to lash out."
The court heard that the victims were enjoying a conversation by a fire to watch the full moon when Saadi approached them. The prosecutor detailed the chilling nature of the attack, describing how Saadi stealthily moved along the promenade before launching a brutal assault. "In an act horrifying in its savagery and in its randomness, he stabbed them both multiple times, chasing after them as they tried to escape," Jones said.
Saadi has denied the charges of murder and attempted murder, and his trial continues as the court examines the evidence and circumstances surrounding this shocking incident
