Dapper Damm Denies Selling Artists’ Catalogues Amid Ongoing Dispute ????????
Music executive Dapper Damm has addressed the allegations surrounding his label, firmly denying claims that he sold the catalogues of any of his artists.
In a new statement, Dapper said:
“I have not sold anyone’s catalogue. Not to a distributor, not to a third party, not to anyone.”
He also sought to clarify the revenue figures being circulated online, explaining that the figures represent gross streaming revenue and do not necessarily reflect the amount ultimately payable to an artist.
According to Dapper, streaming platforms and distributors take their respective shares, after which other expenses advanced by the label may be recouped. He claimed that the label’s investments in some artists exceeded the revenue generated, leaving certain balances unrecouped.
On the issue of masters and ownership, Dapper said that when a label finances the production, promotion and release of a record, ownership of the master recording typically follows the financial investment and risk undertaken by the label. He maintained that such terms were included in the artists’ agreements and were explained and negotiated before signing.
Dapper also urged everyone involved in the dispute to rely on contracts, accounting records and independent audits rather than social media posts.
“Social media is not a court of law,” he said, arguing that repeated allegations online do not automatically establish wrongdoing.
His statement comes amid the ongoing public dispute involving former and current artists, including Shallipopi, who has accused the executive of financial wrongdoing. Dapper’s latest comments represent his response to some of the claims being circulated
