Davido Was Targeted — Osun Police Confirm Attack on Governor Adeleke’s Convoy ????

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that singer Davido was reportedly the target of an attack on the convoy of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in Osogbo on Wednesday, August 19.

The incident occurred shortly after Adeleke received his Certificate of Return from INEC and visited the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo. Davido and the governor’s children were reportedly travelling in the convoy when unidentified men allegedly opened fire, leading to a gun battle involving the governor’s security personnel.

According to police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi, preliminary investigations indicate that suspected members of the Eye confraternity were attempting to gain access to Davido.

Police alleged that a man identified as Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged,” an ex-convict and suspected gang member, attempted to reach Davido but was stopped by his security team. The confrontation reportedly attracted other suspected gang members, who allegedly obstructed the convoy’s movement.

Police said a 60-year-old man, Tajudeen Yusuf, was subsequently shot in the Itaolokan area of Osogbo. He was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, but was pronounced dead.

The police have launched a full-scale investigation and said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The incident adds a disturbing twist to what was supposed to be a celebratory day for Governor Adeleke and his supporters. ????????????

Thankfully, Davido and the governor’s children were reportedly unharmed.
