Chinese space startup LandSpace has joined the small group of private companies to successfully land an orbital-class rocket booster, alongside SpaceX and Blue Origin.

The milestone came during the company’s second attempt to land the first stage of its Zhuque-3 rocket, a reusable stainless-steel rocket often compared with SpaceX’s Falcon 9.

Successfully returning and recovering a rocket’s first stage is a major step toward reusable launch technology, which can reduce the cost of spaceflight and make frequent satellite launches more practical.
