Wike: Genuine Dialogue Among Stakeholders Is Key to Peace in Rivers State

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stressed that blackmail and public outcry alone cannot restore peace in Rivers State.

 Instead, he called for sincere dialogue among all key political actors and stakeholders.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving service held in Port Harcourt on Friday to celebrate the 70th birthday of former federal lawmaker Ken Chikere, Wike stated that the path to peace requires genuine commitment, particularly from members of the National and State Assemblies.

"One month after the President, in his wisdom, declared a state of emergency to prevent anarchy in Rivers State, I challenge any so-called elder, even traditional rulers, to show any concrete efforts made towards achieving peace," Wike said.
