Jonathan Tried to Remove Me as Borno Governor During Emergency Rule

Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that during his time as Governor of Borno State, former President Goodluck Jonathan attempted to remove him from office by declaring a State of Emergency in the state.

Speaking on the matter, Shettima recounted that the move was halted after legal counsel from the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, and the Attorney General of the Federation at the time, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN). Both officials advised Jonathan that, according to the 1999 Constitution, the President does not have the power to remove an elected official not even a councillor without due constitutional process.
