FG Defends N10B Solar Project
The Federal Government has justified its decision to install a N10 billion solar power system at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, highlighting the unsustainable nature of its current electricity costs.
According to Mustapha Abdullahi, Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, the government spends around N47 billion annually on power, a figure that is no longer financially feasible.
Abdullahi explained that the soaring electricity costs led to President Bola Tinubu's approval of the solar project, which aims to reduce government expenses and align with his vision of diversifying Nigeria’s energy sources.
