EFCC Chairman Urges Stronger Systems to Sustain Nigeria’s Anti-Money Laundering Gains
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on financial institutions and key reporting entities in Nigeria to build and maintain solid, uncompromisable systems that will uphold the country’s progress in the fight against money laundering.
Speaking on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the opening of the Preparatory Retreat for the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Onsite Visit at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Abuja, Olukoyede stressed that the lack of sustainable structures has historically weakened Nigeria’s fight against financial crimes.
“Our greatest national challenge has been the absence of reliable structures and systems that can function independently without interference,” he said.
