Rivers State Sole Administrator Appoints LGA Heads, Reconstitutes Agency Boards

Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has approved the appointment of administrators to oversee the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.

The announcement was made public on Wednesday via an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Worika. While the statement confirmed the approval of the appointments, it did not disclose the names of those selected to manage the local councils.

“His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR, has given his approval for the appointment of administrators to serve in the 23 local government areas of the state,” the statement read.

In addition to the LGA appointments, the Sole Administrator also approved the reconstitution of boards for several state agencies, commissions, and parastatals that had previously been suspended.

“All appointments take effect from Monday, April 7, 2025,” the statement added.
