Potential Signs of Life Detected on Exoplanet K2-18 b by James Webb Telescope

A distant world located 124 light-years away may be offering the strongest hint yet of life beyond our solar system.

Exoplanet K2-18 b, which orbits a cool red dwarf star, has shown compelling chemical signals in its atmosphere that could suggest the presence of living organisms.

Using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, scientists observed unique dips in light at specific wavelengths an indication of the presence of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and dimethyl disulfide.
