Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has announced sweeping reforms at the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA), citing the need to improve efficiency after a recent forensic audit uncovered irregularities.

Speaking at State House on September 2, 2025, during a meeting with the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ), Hichilema warned that unchecked inefficiencies at the agency could jeopardize the availability of essential drugs and medical equipment nationwide.
