Nigeria Signs MoU with African Union for Strategic Sealift Services

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the African Union (AU) for the provision of strategic sealift services to the continental body.

The agreement, co-signed by the Commissioner of the African Union Commission, was formalized during a high-profile event held at the Julius Nyerere Hall, African Union Secretariat, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on February 16, 2025.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by several prominent figures from Nigeria and the AU, including:

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla

Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency

Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs
