Gumi Claims He Was Listed for Elimination as Boko Haram Figure at Security Briefing

Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna based Islamic cleric, has claimed that his name was listed for elimination during a security briefing, where he was allegedly identified as a member of Boko Haram.

In a video published on his Facebook page, Gumi said he received a phone call on the morning of a recent bombing, informing him that a security meeting was underway and that he had been marked as a Boko Haram figure to be eliminated.

According to the cleric, the allegation reflects what he described as a dangerous mischaracterisation of his role, while he also criticised foreign military involvement in Nigeria’s security challenges
