Nigeria Launches ‘Power Rangers’ to Protect Electricity Infrastructure

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced the formation of a special security unit known as ‘Power Rangers’ to combat the vandalism of power infrastructure across Nigeria.

Speaking on the initiative, the minister explained that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) would be responsible for deploying personnel to safeguard critical electricity facilities nationwide.

The decision to establish this security task force comes in response to the persistent destruction of power installations, which has contributed significantly to widespread blackouts and disruptions in electricity supply.

"We have decided now, with the Minister of Power, to have what we call the ‘Power Rangers’ to protect our electricity infrastructure," Tunji-Ojo stated.
