Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu Appointed to WTO Steering Committee by IPU

Nigeria's Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has been appointed as a member of the Steering Committee of the Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organization (PCWTO).

 This appointment, facilitated by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), represents a significant step in strengthening Nigeria’s role in global trade policymaking.

The IPU Secretary-General, Martin Chungong, formally extended the invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, PhD. Through this position, Nigeria will have a greater influence in discussions on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), WTO negotiations, and international trade reforms.
