Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Files Lawsuit Against New York Physician Over Abortion Pills
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a civil lawsuit against New York physician Margaret Carpenter, alleging she mailed abortion pills to a 20-year-old woman in Texas, in violation of the state’s stringent abortion laws.
Carpenter, who is the founder of the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine, is accused of prescribing abortion-inducing drugs without possessing a valid Texas medical license. The lawsuit claims that her actions led to the termination of a pregnancy and resulted in serious complications for the patient.
Paxton's office emphasized that Texas law strictly prohibits any physician or medical supplier from providing abortion-inducing drugs via courier, delivery, or mail service. Furthermore, it is illegal for any physician to treat patients or prescribe medication to Texas residents through telehealth services unless they hold a valid Texas medical license
