Nigeria Launches Free 112 Emergency Number for Security Incidents

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a free-to-use emergency number, 112, for citizens to report kidnappings and other security-related incidents.

 Major General Adamu Laka, the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, announced this initiative during a press briefing in Abuja on February 6, 2025, highlighting the efforts of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell.

Laka urged all Nigerians to utilize the 112 number to report suspicious activities, crimes, and kidnappings, alongside additional designated numbers that will be publicized
