The Nigerian government, in partnership with the United Nations, has announced a $159 million initiative aimed at addressing the escalating food and nutrition crisis in the northeastern states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe.

This commitment was unveiled during the introduction of a multi-sector plan designed to tackle food insecurity and malnutrition for the 2025 lean season.

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, emphasized that the initiative would provide vital nutrition, food, health interventions, and other life-saving assistance to approximately 2 million people in urgent need across the BAY states over the next six months.
