Jagaban, Two Others Arrested in Abuja for Trafficking Endangered Wildlife

Three individuals, including a man identified as Saidu Jagaban, have been arrested in Abuja for engaging in illegal trade involving endangered wildlife species.

The operation, carried out jointly by the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) and the National Park Service, led to the apprehension of Musa Usman, Samila Abdullahi, and Saidu Jagaban at separate locations across the Federal Capital Territory.

According to a statement issued by NESREA’s Assistant Director of Press, Nwamaka Ejiofor, the suspects were found in possession of protected animals in violation of the Endangered Species Act. Usman and Abdullahi were caught with 15 Senegalese parrots and one African grey parrot both under strict protection by Nigerian law and international conventions. Jagaban was nabbed while selling three dead antelopes, also protected under the same regulations.
