House of Reps Member Philip Agbese Sues Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan for N1.5 Billion Over Defamation
Philip Agbese, a member of Nigeria's House of Representatives, has filed a lawsuit against Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, demanding N1.5 billion in damages for defamation.
The legal action follows Gambaryan's allegations that Agbese, along with two other lawmakers, requested a $150 million cryptocurrency bribe.
Gambaryan, who was detained by the Nigerian government from February to October 2024 over Binance's operations, made the claims in a post on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Agbese, Peter Akpanke, and another lawmaker of asking for the bribe to be paid into their personal wallets.
In response, Agbese, who was not a member of the House Committee on Financial Crimes that investigated Binance, denied the allegations and maintained that he never demanded any bribe
