Edo NYSC Extends Service for 30 Corps Members Over Protests About Unpaid Allowance
The Edo State chapter of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has imposed a 90-day extension on 30 corps members for protesting the non-payment of their N77,000 allowance in a WhatsApp group. The extension follows their complaints about the unpaid stipends, which they shared in a group titled "Group Update on 77k Allowance."
According to sources, the WhatsApp group was created by an NYSC official, and it became a platform where corps members vented their frustrations about the delay in the payment of their allowances. However, this led to individual summons from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the NYSC Secretariat for questioning.
