Cultism, Internet Fraud, and Social Media Abuse Blamed for 2025 UTME Failures
Prince Gbemisola Obadeyi, South West Secretary of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), has attributed the widespread failure in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to the rise of cultism, internet fraud (commonly known as Yahoo Yahoo), and social media abuse among Nigerian youths.
In a statement he personally signed, Obadeyi expressed serious concern about how these vices negatively affect students, describing them as major distractions that undermine academic focus and success.
