Professor Uduk Of The University Of Uyo Has Been Sentenced to Three Years for Electoral Fraud

The High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, has sentenced Professor Ignatius Uduk of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) to three years in prison for electoral fraud during the 2019 general elections.

Uduk, a Professor of Human Kinetics, served as the Collation/Returning Officer for the Essien Udim State Constituency in March 2019.

He faced a three-count charge that included announcing false results, publishing false results, and perjury. While the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, acquitted him on the first count, he was found guilty on counts two and three. Consequently, the court imposed a three-year sentence for each of the two counts, to run concurrently
