Hundreds of Women R@ped and Burnt Alive After Rebels Storm Congolese Prison

A horrifying massacre unfolded in the city of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as Rwandan-backed M23 rebels launched an attack, leading to the mass r@pe and burning alive of hundreds of women inside Munzenze prison.

The atrocity occurred last week during a violent jailbreak, as the rebel group clashed with Congolese forces in deadly battles.

According to the United Nations, the female inmates were trapped and brutally murdered after male prisoners stormed their section of the notoriously overcrowded jail.

While thousands of male prisoners managed to escape, the women’s wing was deliberately set ablaze, leaving no survivors. Vivian van de Perre, deputy head of the UN peacekeeping force in Goma, confirmed the tragic incident, describing it as one of the worst acts of violence in recent memory.
