Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has defended the ruling party against claims that it is steering Nigeria towards a one party state due to the growing number of defections to its fold.

 Speaking on Channels TV, Basiru responded to the allegations, suggesting that the country's political challenges stem from a lack of serious opposition.

He emphasized that the APC's efforts to expand are not driven by its own making, but rather by the failure of opposition parties to take their responsibilities seriously.

 He challenged journalists to visit the headquarters of other political parties to observe the lack of activity, pointing out that the APC remains active and engaged across the country.
