White House Defends VP Vance After Zelensky Criticizes Remarks on Ukraine War

Tensions flared on Monday as the White House responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's criticism of U.S. Vice President JD Vance, accusing him of excusing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions.

Zelensky, during a 60 Minutes interview on CBS, accused Vance and former President Donald Trump of promoting a distorted narrative around the causes of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

 He specifically suggested that the Vice President appeared to be defending Putin’s decisions.

“It feels as though the Vice President is legitimizing Putin’s aggression,” Zelensky said in the televised interview.
