VP Shettima Meets UN Secretary General

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has met with UN Secretary General António Guterres at the United Nations headquarters, where he strongly emphasized Nigeria’s ambition to secure a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Shettima highlighted the need for increased UN support to help Nigeria achieve greater developmental goals. 

Their bilateral discussions also focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), tackling climate change, strengthening democratic systems in Nigeria and across Africa, and enhancing collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on regional democracy and security initiatives.
