UK-Based Nigerian Accused of Diverting N9.2 Million Tuition Funds
A Nigerian man, Taiwo Oluwayemi, has accused his UK-based associate, Oluwadamilare Olaniyi, of diverting N9.2 million meant for his postgraduate tuition fees, causing him to lose his admission to York St. John University.
Oluwayemi explained to FIJ that he had transferred the funds to Olaniyi between November 2024 and January 2025, trusting him to convert the money into pounds and pay the £3,000 deposit required by the university. Despite repeated reminders, Olaniyi allegedly failed to make the payment, leading the school to withdraw the offer by March 2025.
