Kano Make-up Artist Jailed for Spraying Naira Notes at Wedding

A Federal High Court in Kano has sentenced make-up artist Abdullahi Musa Huseini, also known as Amuscap, to six months in prison for abusing the Nigerian currency during a wedding event.

Justice S.M. Shuaibu delivered the judgment after Huseini pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of naira abuse, brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the EFCC, Huseini was caught on December 6, 2024, at the Ali Jita Event Centre in Kano spraying N100,000 in N1,000 denominations while dancing at his own wedding ceremony. His actions violated Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which criminalizes the mutilation and abuse of the naira
