Trump Signs Federal Ban on AI-Generated and Revenge Intimate Content
In a significant bipartisan move, President Donald Trump has signed the “Take It Down Act” into law, criminalizing the distribution of non-consensual explicit images including AI-generated deepfakes across the United States.
The newly signed legislation makes it a federal offense to share intimate visuals without the subject’s consent.
Offenders could face up to three years in prison. The law also mandates that online platforms promptly take down such content once reported.
Announcing the law during a Rose Garden ceremony, Trump stated, “Anyone who shares intimate images without consent, real or AI-generated, will face serious legal consequences.
