Timipre Sylva Requests New Date to Honor EFCC Invitation
Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to reschedule his appearance over alleged corruption charges.
In a letter dated November 24 and acknowledged by the EFCC on November 26, Sylva challenged the commission’s declaration of him as wanted in connection with an alleged $14.8 million fraud.
The ex-Bayelsa governor stated that he is currently receiving “urgent medical care for a life threatening condition” and is consulting with his doctors on whether he can interrupt treatment to comply with the EFCC’s summons.
The commission has yet to respond publicly to Sylva’s request
