Reps Push for 82 Reserved Seats for Women and Persons with Disabilities in National Assembly
The House of Representatives is proposing a constitutional amendment that would create 82 special seats in the National Assembly exclusively for women and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The plan includes 55 seats in the House of Representatives and 27 in the Senate.
Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, made this announcement on Tuesday during the Second Legislative Open Week held in Abuja.
He explained that the initiative is aimed at promoting greater inclusivity in governance, with 10% of seats allocated to women and 5% to PWDs.
