Presidential Villa to Receive N10bn Solar Project in 2025 Budget
The Federal Government has approved a N10 billion allocation in the 2025 budget for the installation of a solar mini-grid at the Presidential Villa, aimed at reducing the State House's reliance on the national grid.
The initiative, called the "Solarisation of the Villa with Solar Mini Grid," is expected to ease the growing electricity cost burden and promote energy sustainability. This solar power project is part of a broader move to modernize the villa’s energy infrastructure.
The new N10 billion allocation is a significant component of the increase in the State House's capital budget, which saw a jump from N33.55 billion to N43.55 billion. The overall budget for the State House also rose from N47.11 billion to N57.11 billion.
Bayo Onanuga, an ally of President Tinubu, pointed out that this move aligns with international examples, highlighting the solar energy initiative at the White House in Washington, D.C., which has been using solar power for years.
