Peter Obi Releases Official Documents to Refute Alleged Ties to Abacha Regime

Former Anambra State Governor , Peter Obi, has released a series of official documents to clarify the nature of his engagement with the regime of late military dictator, General Sani Abacha.

The move comes in response to renewed political commentary and social media speculation alleging Obi had connections to the Abacha junta, which ruled Nigeria between 1993 and 1998 a regime notorious for human rights violations and systemic corruption.

One of the most vocal critics, former presidential aide Reno Omokri, recently claimed that Obi was involved with the regime through operations linked to the Tincan Island Port in Lagos. Omokri’s assertions triggered a wave of online debate and scrutiny.

In a detailed statement issued on Wednesday, July 9, Obi denied any political or commercial collaboration with the Abacha government.
