Oyo Government Investigates Police Officer Who Fatally Shot Schoolboy 

The Oyo State Government has confirmed that the police officer involved in the fatal shooting of a secondary school student during a traffic stop in Ibadan is currently in custody and under investigation.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning along Alakia Old Road, sparking widespread outrage and a protest march by residents to the State Secretariat demanding justice.

In a statement signed by Sulaimon Olanrewaju, spokesperson to Governor Seyi Makinde, the government described the shooting as “sad, shocking, and totally avoidable.” Condolences were extended to the victim’s family, and the government assured the public of a thorough investigation in collaboration with the Oyo State Police Command
