Kano Cracks Down on Unlicensed Traditional Medicine Ads in Films and Public Spaces
The Kano State Government has officially banned the use of loudspeakers by street vendors to promote traditional medicines, and has also prohibited such advertisements in Hausa-language films.
In a directive issued by the Kano State Censorship Board, all forms of traditional medicine promotion whether in movies, on the streets, or through digital platforms must be halted unless they are properly vetted and licensed.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the order is aimed at curbing the spread of unverified medical claims and ensuring public safety.
